Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S specifications
Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door has the sporty coupe covered on the straights, reeling it in with a massive 200Nm and 50kW power advantage from a mighty twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, along with a clever all-wheel-drive system getting all that grunt to the ground.
The GT 4-Door serves up superlative performance in a magnificent cabin home to rich leather trim, twin 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment displays, well-bolstered but more accommodating seats and superior refinement keeping wind and road noise to a minimum at 250km/h and beyond.
It even perfumes the cabin with an AMG-specific fragrance which takes the tang out of molten tyres, steaming brakes and elevated perspiration often associated with a day at the track.
The cabin features a lovely flat-bottomed steering wheel with an optional drive mode selector and digital function buttons which let you cycle through Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual and Race settings while separately tailoring features such as its active exhausts, sophisticated air suspension and multi-stage stability control systems.
The new beast features AMG’s latest track data and driver coaching apps along with a full suite of safety features including the ability to drive itself in traffic jams or help steer around hazards - autonomous emergency braking, active cruise control and blind spot assistance.
The selling point for the GT 63 S surrounds dramatic looks backed by the most powerful V8 yet, a 470kW, 900Nm masterpiece capable of streaking to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds before topping out at 315km/h.
Mercedes expects to sell at least 100 examples per year to people who want a performance car which stands out from the crowd. While it isn’t really a four-door version of the much lower, lighter and more focused GT coupe, the GT 63 S is the most potent four-door ‘Benz you can buy.
